Sarasota Beach Weddings Famous

Visitors come from all over the world to walk on Sarasota beaches. They're famous for crystalline sands, blue-green Gulf waters, and gorgeous sunsets. It's not unusual to see weddings taking place on Siesta Public Beach. And on Sunday nights, the legendary drum circle attracts a big crowd that watches, dances, and sways to the beat as the sun goes down on Siesta Public Beach. Lido Beach, closer to downtown Sarasota, offers another kind of sand, and a different experience.

Sarasota Beach Weddings Offeres

There are actually six beaches in Sarasota, three on Siesta Key, and three on Lido Key.

SIESTA KEY BEACHES:

Siesta Public Beach, easy to enter from 10 free beach access points along Beach Road, and from the main free entrance and parking lot, is world-famous for its 99% pure quartz white sand, soft and fluffy like powdered sugar, and cool on the feet. It's actually won awards for being "the whitest and finest sand in the world." The water along Siesta Beach is rather shallow, so you'll see people standing up far out into the usually-calm surf. On choppy water days, surfers in wet suits try their skills on the breakers. There are four colorful lifeguard stands on the beach in front of the pavilion at Siesta Public Beach.

On the deck, you can buy beach supplies and food, borrow beach wheelchairs, and use the rest room facilities. Nearby, there are tennis and volleyball courts and a shaded playground and picnic area. Depending on where you park, it's a 5 to 15 minute walk into Siesta Key Village, where you'll find lots of fun and funky beach restaurants and bars, laundry facilities, beachwear shops, and grocery and hardware stores. On Sunday afternoons, drummers arrive with various types of percussion instruments and set up for the weekly Drum Circle. Inside the circle, adults and kids dance, twirl hula hoops, and sway to the hypnotic beat. Lots of people gather around the circle to watch and smile. The drumming continues until shortly after sunset.

Crescent Beach sands are soft and white, and it's basically an extension south of Siesta Public Beach. It's quieter and more peaceful, since you can only access it from one point along Beach Road. The southern demarkation of Crescent Beach is Point of Rocks, where visitors enjoy snorkeling and diving to see the coral rock formations and sea life underwater there..

Turtle Beach is located at the southern tip of Siesta Key. It's narrow, with a steeper drop towards the water's edge. The sand here carries more shells, and you'll see petrified sharks' teeth, which show up in more quantity after a storm. Turtle Beach also features picnic areas, a playground, volleyball court, and horseshoe pit. You can fish in the adjacent Blind Pass Lagoon, and there's a boat launch. Restaurants, a few nightspots and shops are located north of Turtle Beach before you get to the Stickney Point.

LIDO KEY BEACHES:

Lido Beach is accessible from several points. You can drive around St Armands Circle and bear right into the Lido Beach parking area. From there, it's a short stroll to a wood deck, foot washing stand, and ramp onto the beach. Or you can drive through the parking area, take a left onto Ben Franklin Boulevard, driving south along the beach until you get to Lido Beach Pavilion, which contains concessions, a fenced-in community pool (small fee to use it), a nearby picnic and playground area, showers and rest room facilities. The sand on Lido Key is coarser and darker than the sand on Siesta Key. The texture is similar to that found on New Jersey and Long Island beaches. Lido Beach is peaceful and less lively than Siesta Public Beach. It's also closer to downtown Sarasota, via a short ride over the John Ringling Bridge.

South Lido Beach offers picnic tables, a playground, showers and restrooms, but no lifeguards. You can fish in the Pass or play volleyball, grill picnic food, and relax under the shade trees. There are also two walking trails and a self-guided canoe trail in this 100 acre park at the southern end of Lido Beach. The parking lot is large, and the park is accessible by boat.

North Lido Beach is located north of the lifeguard stands on Lido Beach. Years ago it was known for its topless bathing, no longer permitted, of course. It's beautiful and quiet, with dramatic views of the Gulf. Just enter Lido Beach from the access near St Armands Circle. One walking variation is to immediately turn right after you enter the beach. You'll see a walking trail with beach grasses along the left side and a forested area along the left side. If you walk north on this trail, it eventually meets up with the beach close to the water's edge, so you can return via the beach.

Parking is free at all these Sarasota beaches. In addition to providing memorable locations for beach weddings, the beautiful sands make wonderful backdrops for family beach portraits. Whenever you see groups of people clad in matching jeans and white shirts, or some similar variation, you can be sure there's a beach photographer corraling them into appealing poses so they can take home photographic souvenirs of their vacation Sarasota Beach Weddings.

Perfect Romantic Beach Weddings

Beach wedding invitations can be perfect for tropical, destination and, of course, beach weddings. What is more romantic than exchanging your vows on a beautiful beach with soft sand beneath your feet and the gentle sound of waves rolling in and out. Your setting may even include an awesome sunset over the horizon. The good news is that these amazing scenes can be captured and shared with guests through your wedding invitations.

Here are some ideas on how to share the romance of your wedding by mailing out themed beach wedding invitations:

  • Colors - Common shades that come to mind are greens for the palm leaves, blues and aquas for the crystal clear waters, vibrant colors for the beautiful tropical flowers, and pearl whites for the unique seashells.
  • Shapes - If you are looking to have some fun, you may find unique shapes of wedding invites such as beach chairs, flip flops, airplane tickets, etc. This type of invitation would certainly surprise and delight your guests.
  • Design graphics - The beach theme can be illustrated by picturesque palm trees or lush leaves, a sunny beach scene, bright tropical flowers, shimmery seashells or maybe a couple amidst a romantic seaside setting.
  • Photography - What could be more genuine than a picture on the front of your invitation resembling a beach scene photo like a sunset or a heart drawn in the sand.

Romantic Beach Weddings Style

Depending on the style of your wedding, your beach invitations may be formal or more on the casual side. A more casual invite may be appropriate if you are planning a small destination ceremony followed by a post-wedding reception when returning home.

In keeping with your theme, you will also find a great selection of beach save the date magnets and cards if you will be announcing your wedding ahead of your actual invitation. This is often a good idea when having a wedding that will involve your guests traveling to a destination of Romantic Beach Weddings.

There is nothing more romantic than a wedding by water especially at dusk. The sound of the waves lapping to shore provide music to a resplendent sunset creating an unequalled backdrop of constantly changing reddish orange gold hues dancing above the ocean's horizon.

Reasons for not opting for the traditional church wedding are many and varied. This is not a discussion about that, but of a beach wedding.

Traditional Florida Beach Weddings

A wedding at the beach can be a spiritual or contemporary as you choose. If one partner is more spiritual or the religious than the other, incorporating both into the ceremony should not be a problem. Choose an interdenominational or interfaith minister or chaplain that is open to what is important and meaningful to you. Ask for their expertise and ideas and what they have done before with other couples. If you choose a celebratory minister, you will avoid receiving a dry ceremony. They are also a great source for recommending other wedding vendors such as florists, photographers and harpists or DJ's.

Beach weddings are affordable. Articles claim the average traditional wedding is between $19 and $30 thousand dollars. Beach Weddings won't empty your pocket books and are more joyful! At a beach wedding, the focus is on the bridal couple not the hotel and dinner ware. After the wedding, people are at the waterfront, often enjoying a few more days of bliss.

The beach is casual, spacious and inviting. Guests can relax and just enjoy your special moment in the open air, moving as they wish without being stuck in their traditional chairs.. Rules are few, rewards plenty. The passing pelican or possible glimpse of dolphins just adds to the delight. It is truly a celebration of life, a threshold crossing, a unity of two people or combined families in the midst of life.

Children can be children and run and play immediately after the ceremony.

Florida Beach Weddings

Attire can be as dressy or casual as you choose for the bridal party and the guests can wear their favorite casual clothing. You might even ask all guests to wear one or two main colors such as denim and white or off white or tan and white so that your photos have a beautiful uniform look. Women can enjoy getting dressed up in dresses that flow in the wind if they want while men can choose rolled up khakis and dressy casual shirts. It's all a matter of choice and you have lots of choices. You may even choose to have a theme or have an integrated look by simply giving every one an inexpensive flowered lei to wear.

You can have your reception catered right on the beach under the stars or enjoy the amenities of a beach area. The reception can be as simple or as elegant as you wish. If at sunset and depending on time of year, sunset is late in the evening, a cake and champagne ceremony may be all that you need. Cake and Champagne ceremonies are quite popular at the moment. Sometimes but not often, couples add to it a bridal brunch.

Written by Rev. Elizabeth Berry in conjunction with Ed Strong, Serenity Photos, Fort Myers, Florida.

The disadvantages in my opinion are minor, but here are some:

Most obvious disadvantage is untamable weather, primarily rain. This is easily overcome with a back up plan to have the wedding at your hotel if it has a great lobby, restaurant, minister's residence if appropriate or better yet, consider a waterfront gazebo or pavilion near the beach. If you choose the latter, you can still get married on the beach and use the gazebo just in case.

Some beaches do not allow you to put up structures. If you are planning to bring anything but the chairs, check out what the rules are with the local authorities. Wedding Arches are rarely a problem but anything larger often is.

Receptions on the beach often require further information on prohibitions and requirements. Again, a nearby pavilion or gazebo that is often used for this may be the way to go.

If the beach is narrow, remember that when you go to see it, the tide may be out. Ask around how far the water comes in and if necessary choose another beach.

Be on the lookout for swamp areas near the beach. If there is a swamp and the time of year is right, there may be bugs. Ask the locals about flying insects and sand fleas.

Standing in the sand barefoot or in shoes may just be your thing. For many it is. Some couples even choose to have the ceremony while standing in a few inches of water. For those would rather not, choose a location with a deck, cement or other firm flooring.

Most beach weddings do not require chairs for the 15 or 20 minute ceremony. However, the elderly often need a place to sit down. Use your bridal party and make sure enough inexpensive fold up garden chairs are in the trunk ready for use for Florida Beach Weddings.
